Neighborhood Watch Receives Its FlagThe neighborhood watch holds its flag ceremony outside the community center yesterday. [Staff Report] The North District neighborhood watch held a flag ceremony yesterday (the 2nd) outside the community center. The borough chief presented the flag to its 42 members, who begin patrols this month. There are two shifts, 8 to 10 p.m. and 10 p.m. to midnight, four members each, walking the main lanes with flashlights and radios. The borough chief said all members are volunteers from the borough who have day jobs. "Everyone takes turns walking around. With someone out at night, people feel safer." Police said they will provide guidance and a contact point, and asked members to report anything suspicious right away rather than handle it themselves. Reader DiscussionReplies 1
