Recycling Truck Routes to Change Starting Next MonthA recycling truck makes its rounds in a North District lane yesterday. [Staff Report] The sanitation team said recycling truck routes will change next month. Some lanes where trucks have trouble turning will be served by smaller trucks in the morning, and pickup times will change too. The old routes mostly ran in the early evening, just as residents came home and shops closed, making it hard for vehicles to pass, and there were repeated complaints of blocked lanes. The district will now have six routes, two of them in the morning. New routes and times are posted at borough offices and along the routes, and flyers are being delivered door to door. Paper, cans, plastic bottles and glass should be bagged separately. Kitchen waste collection times are unchanged. Large furniture and old appliances require a separate appointment through the sanitation hotline. Reader DiscussionReplies 3
