Scooter Owners Reminded: Compulsory Insurance or a Fine[Staff Report] The motor vehicles office said compulsory liability insurance is required by law, and anyone riding without it will be fined at least NT$3,000 and may have their plate confiscated. Some people wrongly believe scooters are exempt, the office said, or let their policy lapse without noticing. Owners should check the expiry date and renew in time. Policies can be bought from insurers, motor vehicles offices and some post offices; bring your registration and ID. Coverage starts the same day. The office noted that compulsory insurance pays accident victims and does not cover the rider's own vehicle; other coverage can be bought separately. Reader DiscussionReplies 0
