Paths at the North District sports park are finished; the park opens next month.

[Staff Report]

The North District sports park has passed final inspection. Covering about 1.2 hectares, it has a loop path, a pavilion, a playground and simple exercise equipment. The district office said it will open to the public on the 1st of next month.

The site was vacant land long used as a dump, and was added to the year's improvement plan after repeated complaints. Work began last October and took six months.

The district office said the park has no wall and is open all day. Night lighting was finished last month, but some lights will be switched off after 10 p.m. out of consideration for neighbors.

The borough chief said volunteers will be organized to patrol the park after it opens. "The park belongs to everyone, so everyone looks after it." Vendors and vehicles are not allowed in the park.
