Borough Karaoke Contest Draws Crowd of Entrants[Staff Report] Registration for the North District borough karaoke contest has closed with more than 130 entries, about 40 percent more than last year, so the organizers are adding an extra preliminary round. The preliminary round is next Sunday at 9 a.m. at the community center. Singers perform in drawn order, one song each, any language. Finalists will be announced that afternoon. Staff said most entrants this year are over fifty; the oldest is 78. Several husband-and-wife and mother-and-daughter pairs have entered the duet category. There will be first, second and third place and ten honorable mentions, with prizes of household gift vouchers. Contestants should bring ID when checking in. Reader DiscussionReplies 0
